"What if slowing down actually takes practice?" 3 days and a new way to approach your day

Wilderness Dawn Cowan | SEP 21, 2026

One of the strange things about slowing down is that sometimes you can know you need it and still have no idea how to actually do it.

I used to think slowing down meant stopping whatever I was doing and trying to relax. Which, of course, made relaxing feel like another thing I needed to be good at and delegate time for. It also had me rushing through my to-do list so I could have relief once it was done. But as you know, it's never done, so why not learn how to make it feel like a natural and even enjoyable part of your day.

Slowing down doesn’t mean doing less. It's more about the little micro-shifts in how you move through your day. Not rushing through the dishes, and not washing your hair in the shower like you're trying to win the fastest shampooer award. Actually listening and looking into the eyes of someone when they are talking to you instead of mentally scanning through your to-do list. Even noticing how quickly you move when there’s no actual reason to hurry.

There’s a difference between knowing you should slow down and actually practicing what that feels like. That’s a lot of what I wanted to offer in my mini course, The Art of Slowing Down: How Biology Responds to Slowness and Safety. Not just the idea of slowing down, but what it can look like in the ordinary moments of your day. You don't have to become a different person who doesn't care about your tasks, but someone who knows how to get through those same tasks without acting like each one is a hot potato to get rid of faster than the other.

It’s a 3-day digital mini course,10 minutes a day, with a little nervous-system science and a short practice each day. Over 400 people have already listened to this practice, and it’s been getting lovely feedback.
